On the occasion of World Intellectual Property Day on 26th April’20, IPRS organized a webinar titled ‘Deconstructing Copyright in Music’,in an effort to spread awareness about the importance of Copyright in creating a fair value for Music and its Creators.

MUMBAI, 17th June 2021: Celebrating World Music Day, India’s only Copyright Society representing the authors, composers, and publishers of music – IPRS & Dolby Laboratories have come together to launch the campaign, “KNOWYOURMUSIC” to highlight the multiple genres of Indian music and create a more engaged audience.

The session reminisced iconic songs as well as unveiled the life and works of legends Javed Akhtar, C. Ramachandra, O.P. Nayyar, Hemant Kumar, Kaifi Azmi, R.D. Burman, Gulzar, A.R. Rahman and many others who have built the Indian music industry with their talent and sheer creativity.

Many a time,a song spreads so far that the one who created it is left far behing ,with little or no mention. The session titled Unsung Creators, Timeless Creations honoured such legendary authors and composers whose names we might have forgotten but their songs remain eternal.

With the boom in distribution and consumption of content, there had been a surge in music creation as well.  However, the sudden halt, owing to the pandemic has resulted in a situation of great uncertainty for the entire music fraternity comprising of music creators, performers, technicians, and the labour force.

Thank you for visiting our site. We are always working towards making the IPRS Community stronger and adding value in your creative journey. Our initiatives are aimed to bring you insights and opinions from the best in the industry. Share with us your feedback and suggestions about what more you would like to know or experience with us to help us create a better experience for you.

Every song we listen to is a musical story that is created with a lot of effort by composers and lyricists. However, not many remember these behind-the-scenes creators, who often get lost in the pages of music sheets. IPRS in association with Music Plus has launched a thought-provoking campaign, “#CreditTheCreators” to acclaim the Creators and Celebrate them along with their work! The 2-week long campaign around World Music Day, aimed to invite everyone to acknowledge those behind the power of words and melodies that have shaped our moments of merriment and misery equally, forever etching those songs in our memories.
